Plurogel Burn and Wound Dressing

PluroGel Burn and Wound Dressing is a concentrated, cell-friendly surfactant that creates an optimal wound healing environment thanks to Micelle Matrix Technology™, which is a non-sensitising formula to soften, loosen and trap debris in the wound.

Our gentle non-ionic and non-irritating formula makes wound cleaning a more comfortable process for patients. The unique micelle gels maintains moisture and controls fluid loss, helping protect healthy tissue and further softening wound debris. Our 100 per cent water-soluble burn and wound dressing makes cleansing easy thanks to this softened wound debris and how easily it rinses off during dressing changes. Furthermore, Medline’s Plurogel wound dressing maintains its consistency, adhering to the wound bed for better protection between dressing changes.


How it works

The first step in preparing for wound closure is preparing a healthy wound bed. PlugoGel’s micelle matrix contains surfactant micelles, and each micelle’s hydrophilic surface bonds with water, facilitating movement in the wound environment.

Exudate and wound debris are absorbed within the hydrophobic core, allowing for easy removal and cleaning during dressing change.

PluroGel’s unique inverse thermal dynamic properties allow it to thicken in a warm wound bed and conform to the wound. This ensures that the gel stays in constant contact with the necrotic tissue, bacteria and debris in the wound bed, which it softens and absorbs thanks to its composition of a unique matrix of micelles.

Additionally, this dressing helps disrupt biofilms and can prevent new ones from forming by helping clean the wound on a molecular level.
