Medline Supply Continuity in the Context of the Pandemic and Brexit

2020

Over the last 12 months, media attention has switched away from Brexit, but we are now starting to see delays at ports. The combined effect of Brexit stockpiling, large volumes of pandemic supplies coming into the UK and travel bans affecting freight are all reported to be main reasons behind these delays.

As a key supplier to the NHS and private healthcare providers, Medline has kept on top of all the developments and updated supply continuity plans accordingly. Our UK warehouse in Bicester, which has been in operation for more than 12 months, continues to hold 45 days of stock of all lines wherever possible.

However, delays at the ports and the knock-on effects mean there is the potential in the short term to affect supply continuity, particularly for a limited number of lines that continue to have restricted supply due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are working to resolve issues as soon as possible and will continue to provide additional support for your organisation via Medline’s European distribution centre in Germany, which holds an average of 12 weeks stock of each product line.

Please continue to send orders into Medline Customer Services via your normal route. Medline’s Customer Services team can be contacted by telephone on 0800 151 3587 or  via email on [email protected].

Medline will continue to monitor the situation closely and should there be a need to make changes to any part of the supply continuity plan, we will let you know accordingly. If you have any questions, please contact your Medline representative or Customer Services.
